Sheffield Nightline is a student-run listening service that ran throughout the night. It provided emotional support and information to students within Sheffield from 1973 until its closure in 2023. Sheffield Nightline is an independent organisation supported by The University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and their subsequent Students' Unions. In 2023 it celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Call-taking volunteer

I have volunteered over 200+ hours providing support and information to students through our call, instant messenger and email service. I have experience in handling a multitude of situations ranging from suicidal thoughts to exam stress to needing information.

Roles of responsibility

In the 2020/21 academic year I was elected as the Rota Secretary. I managed the shift rotas and ensured our service was running throught the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the 2021/22 academic year I was the Secretary of the committee. I managed the internal and external communications of the committee. I created progression trackers and automated internal spreadsheets. My contributions to the committee awarded me the Working Committee Secretary of the Year 2022.

In the 2022/23 academic year I became the Publicity Officer. I overhaulled the branding of Sheffield Nightline bringing a cohesive structure and vision. I created a new website, brand toolkit, posters and other physical materials. Additionally, I relaunched the Sheffield Nightline Street Team to reduce the overall responsibility of the call-taking volunteers.
