Adam H G Chen

I am a first year PhD student at the Institute for Mental Health at The University of Birmingham working jointly with The University of Nottingham, supervised by Dr Maria Michail, Dr Nicola Wright and Dr Isabel Morales-Munoz.

My research primarily focuses on exploring the social determinants (non-medical factors) of youth suicide including understanding young people's views and experiences of suicidal behaviour through mixed methods.

I am funded by the Midlands Graduate School ESRC DTP working on a strategic joint studentship. I have a M.A in Social Research and a B.A. (Hons) in Sociology from The University of Sheffield. I am proud to say I am a first-generation scholar.
